Our friends the Comboni Sisters who work with the community were recently reported:

The Supreme Court has suspended the demolition until 15 August – thanks to petitions from the Bedouin community and international pressure… the people live in hope that the pressure will bear positive fruit for the community – but also for other Bedouin communities in zone C which are threatened because there will be a domino effect if this demolition goes ahead.

The Israelis have prepared a site and school between Palestinian villages but near to a rubbish dump and very restricted, especially because the Bedouin, who are a pastoral people, will not be able to bring their animals there.  They have confidence in the prayers and pressure of their supporters will overturn the decision etc.

Church-related statements

Bishop Declan Lang meets with Alistair Burt  “We therefore stand in solidarity with the residents of Khan al-Ahmar and call on our government to use every diplomatic means at its disposal to prevent the Israeli authorities from destroying their homes.”

Statement from World Council of Churches, 13 July 2018 “Demolishing the homes and especially the school in Khan al-Ahmar is an inhumane decision violating the human rights of people already living in extremely difficult conditions because of decades of injustice,”
