Pax Christi ICON at St John’s Cathedral, Norwich @ Cathedral of St John the Baptist

jacob_esau_smallThe ICON will be on display in the Cathedral from 26 February.

Tuesday 1st March at 7.30pm in the St Joseph’s Chapel the Daytime Prayer Group will lead a time of prayer. This will be based on a theme associated with The Icon of Peace and include scripture, a reflection and the rosary.

Wednesday 2nd March at 7pm . Pat Gaffney general secretary of Pax Christi will give her talk-How symbols and images can open the door to the process of peacemaking. This will take place at 7.00pm in St Joseph’s Chapel in the Cathedral.  Download flyer

Thursday 3rd March The Justice and Peace Group at St John’s Cathedral will lead a reflection and discussion on Forgiveness and Reconciliation again based on The Icon. This will also take place at 7.30pm in The Saint Joseph’s Chapel in the cathedral.

All three events are free and open to anyone.

The cathedral is open all day and so people are invited to come and spend time before The Icon in reflection and prayer. There will be the opportunity to light a candle. Explanation cards about The Icon will be available.

Stop Trident National Rally @ Hinde Street Methodist Church

2-No Faith in TridentPax Christi  and the Network of Christian Peace Organisations is supporting a major national demonstration called by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) to Stop Trident, Britain’s nuclear weapons system.  We want to make sure that  this will be the biggest protest against nuclear weapons  in a generation, we need your help.

Join us on the day  We are organising a gathering for interfaith prayer at 11.00 am at Hinde Street Methodist Church, Hinde Street, London. We will then join the march under the banner ‘No Faith in Trident’… but do bring your own peace/Church/community banner!   The march will end in Trafalgar Square.

Subversive PeacemakersDiscover the stories of people courageous enough to resist the First World War’s recruitment campaigns and conscription. 100 years ago who opposed the war and why did they do it?  What kind of politics, what kind of patriotism, what kinds of faith did they have?  Clive Barrett, Chair of the Peace Museum, Bradford, gives an illustrated presentation on the conscientious objectors of the First World War, some local stories, interspersed with examples of the music that inspired them.  Come and sing along to songs of courage and conscience, with the help of a choir led by Sue Gilmurray. Download poster

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAAn evening with John Dear on, Blessed are the Peacemakers, the Beatitudes.  John is well-known to many in the Christian peace movement and was a key-note speaker in 2007 at the National Justice and Peace Network Conference.

The evening is jointly hosted by Ekklesia, Pax Christi and London Catholic Worker

John will also be speaking at the annual Thomas Merton Society Conference  on his new work, Thomas Merton Peacemaker.

This is advance notice of our Annual General Meeting which will be held in Leeds.  This is open to all.  Part of the day will deal with the reporting and business matters relating to Pax Christi’s work and part of the day will reflect on some current work for peace.
