Pax Christi members in Scotland – day gathering @ Ignatian Spirituality Centre

Lenten vigils in Birmingham challenge support for the arms trade @ HSBC Bank

A Christian peace group, MiCha (Midlands Christian Action) will be holding prayer and protest vigils outside HSBC on the corner of New Street and Corporation Street, central Birmingham, for the season of Lent. We will be calling on HSBC to cease their support for arms trade companies through investments, loans and other financial services.
Each vigil will be from 8.30am – 9.30am.
The dates are:

From Violence to Wholeness Study Programme @ St Bartholomew's Parish Church

NonV-From-Violence-to-Wholeness-600x600A 10-week study programme, From Violence to Wholeness will be run by the Conforti Institute, Justice and Peace Scotland, Faith in Community Scotland and a Place for Hope.

Open to all.  There are 20 free places offered for the programme funded by the Conforti Institute. See flyer

National Event for International CO Day @ Tavistock Square

An annual event in recognition of Conscientious Objectors past and present, is coordinated by the First World War Peace Forum, of which Pax Christi is a member.

Speakers Selam Kidane (on military service situation in Eritrea) and Hannah Brock of War Resisters International  (on situation in South Korea, and new laws in Sweden).  There will also be readings and music as part of the ceremony.

2AGM Flyer 2018Our Annual Meeting will be held in Nottingham with business and sharing on our peacemaking work in the morning.

Panel discussion at 2.00pm

Chaired by Pat Gaffney, General Secretary of Pax Christi with Max Brookman-Byrne, Lecturer in Law in the College of Social Science, University of Lincoln. Max’s research focuses on international law and the use of force/conduct of hostilities and cutting edge research into the lawfulness of the use of armed drones .  Maya  Evans  a UK peace and human rights  activist.  Maya has made several visits to Afghanistan and among other things campaigns on armed drones and civil liberties
