Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemorations @ Westminster Cathedral Piazza

Join us in the Piazza of Westminster Cathedral, London on both days between 10.00am and 5.00pm.  Prayers at 11.30 and 3.30


Here you can download service outlines with prayers, litanies and readings for use on either day and other resources and background on nuclear weapons today, for stalls and events.

Liverpool remembers Hiroshima and Nagasaki @ pin St John's Gardens

Members of Pax Christi Liverpool will be supporting and speaking at this event .  There will be a wreath laid to remember the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Hiroshima Memorial Service, Dunbar, Scotland @ St. Anne’s Episcopal and Methodist Church
Aug 6 @ 11:15 am – 12:15 pm

A short service of remembrance is planned to commemorate those who died and to witness to the continuing need for peace, disarmament and reconciliation. It will take place at the Peace Pole in the grounds of St. Anne’s Episcopal and Methodist Church, Westgate, Dunbar

This day is also the feast of the Transfiguration and there will be a Eucharist in St. Anne’s Church at 10.30am to which all are invited.

I would be grateful if you could advertise this service to members of your congregation and display the attached notice.

A commemoration of light and peace, linking Hiroshima with Romford,  with speaker Bruce Kent, Vice President of CND and of Pax Christi.

Annual remembrance of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Aylesford @ The Friars, Aylesford

This annual event of the Kent Diocesan Area Justice and Peace Group will be in the Choir Chapel at Aylesford Friary.  All welcome.

Commemoration service for Blessed Franz Jaegerstaetter @ Crypt Chapel, Westminster Cathedral

Blessed Franz Jaegerstaetter

Annual service in memory of Blessed Franz Jaegerstaetter, executed in Berlin in 1943 for refusing to serve in Hitler’s army.

Our speaker is Dr Ray Towey.  Ray Towey is a lay medical missionary who has spent many years working in rural Africa and also a peace activist witnessing at the Ministry of Defence London against nuclear weapons. Following visits to St.Radegund Austria he initiated the first Franz Jagerstatter Service in the Westminster Cathedral Crypt in 1989

Ecumenical service in Crypt Chapel, Westminster Cathedral.  Entry via the car-park in Ambrosden Avenue.

  • Followed by the annual inter-faith walk to Battersea Peace Pagoda for Nagasaki Day commemorations.

Mass celebrating 101st birthday of Archbishop Romero.  Principal Celebrant: Archbishop Edward Adams, Apostolic Nuncio to Great Britain.  All Welcome

Day of reflection for peacemakers in Liverpool @ Cenacle Retreat House

Organised by Pax Christi Liverpool the day will be led by Fr Gerry McFlynn, Chaplain to Irish prisoners and member of the Pax Christi Nonviolence Working Group.

Pax Christi at the Eucharistic Congress, Liverpool @ St Philip Neri Church,
Sep 8 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Pax Christi is delighted to be taking part in a creative parallel programme being organised for the National Eucharistic Congress, offering sessions on reconciliation and peacemaking.

We will be in St Philip Neri Church, Liverpool between 12 noon and 6.00pm, working with colleagues from the Northern Diocese Environment Group and Together for the Common Good.

We aim to offer:

  • Two meditation sessions with the Pax Christi ICON of peace
  • A panel conversation with women peacemakers: Emma Atherton, Ella Holliday, Carol Burns and Pat Gaffney
  • A talk from Jenny Sinclair on Reconciliation
  • Craft activities for families

and more…we will up-date as activities are confirmed.

World Week for Peace in Palestine & Israel 2018

This is a national week of action, prayer and study in support of the World Council of Churches World Week for Peace in Palestine & Israel.  The theme chosen by the UK Working Group for the week is ” Investing in Young People”.  Resources are being developed.
