Liverpool Ash Wednesday- Public Act of Repentance @ St Lukes Church

Public act of repentance for preparations for Nuclear war (replacement of the Trident weapons system).  Gather on the steps of St Luke’s, the bombed church and then process through city centre. Setting off from St Luke’s at 1.00pm

Glasgow Ash Wednesday Witness @ South Gate, Faslane Naval Base

Join us for our annual Ash Wednesday Service of Repentance and Resistance at the home of the UK’s weapons of mass destruction.
We will start at the car park next to the South Gate where we will mark each other with ashes and then process with the cross to the South Gate accompanied by readings, prayers and hymns. All are welcome. Our Annual act of prayer, witness and resistance to nuclear war preparations.

Meet at 3.00pm, Victoria Embankment Gardens, Whitehall Section (nearest tube Embankment ).  Between Northumberland Avenue and Horseguards Avenue.

Preparation for London gathering on 23 February, LCW, 49 Mattison Road, Harringay, London N4 between 7 – 8.30 pm

We encourage members to organise their own events around the country.  Here you can download the Liturgy Booklet used in 2016 to give you ideas for prayers/symbolic actions.

Global Campaign on Military Spending 2017 @ National

 GDAMS card17GCOMS 2017 will run from 20 April  to 23 April – we hope this may give an opportunity to spread actions and events into the week-end.

A great opportunity to raise the issue of military spending – asking the question, “does it make us safer”.  Help others to think about this with a stall in your town centre or church.  Highlight the opportunities that are lost when governments spend money on the military rather than on health, education, development, climate change and more…

Hiroshima commemorations @ Westminster Cathedral Piazza

Every year we have a stall, vigil and time of prayer to commemorate the bombing of Hiroshima.  Join us, help give out leaflets, talk with people about what is happening today to ban nuclear weapons, pray with us.  Prayer times at 11.30 and 3.30. Leaflet here

Annual event of the Lord Mayor’s Committee for Peace and Reconciliation.  Led by John Witcombe, Dean of Coventry Cathedral.  Speaker Ruth Longoni, Lord Mayor’s Peace Committee and representatives  from the Embassy of Japan.

Service of reflection, music, religious and secular readings and silence.  All welcome

  • Jagerstatter BookAnnual memorial service for the life and witness of Franz Jägerstätter with readings, prayers and song.  OUr speaker is Bruce Kent.
  • Entrance to the Crypt Chapel is via the car-park in Ambrosden Avenue
  • The service is followed by the annual interfaith peace pilgrimage to Battersea Park for the Nagasaki Day Commemorations.

Romero Centenary Mass @ St George's Cathedral

A Mass to celebrate 100 years since the birth of Blessed Oscar Romero.  Celebrant: Archbishop Peter Smith and homily will be given by Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, posulator of Romero’s cause in Rome.

No Faith in War: day of prayer to Stop the Arms Fair @ London Excel Centre
Sep 5 @ 10:00 am – 4:45 pm

Pax Christi is supporting this day of action by faith groups.  There will be a variety of prayers, readings, silent worship from 10.00 am until the last session, run by Pax Christi at 4.00pm.
