Public act of repentance for preparations for Nuclear war (replacement of the Trident weapons system).  Gather on the steps of St Luke’s, the bombed church and then process through city centre. Setting off from St Luke’s at 1.00pm

Join us for our annual Ash Wednesday Service of Repentance and Resistance at the home of the UK’s weapons of mass destruction.
We will start at the car park next to the South Gate where we will mark each other with ashes and then process with the cross to the South Gate accompanied by readings, prayers and hymns. All are welcome.  GCOMS 2017 will run from 20 April  to 23 April – we hope this may give an opportunity to spread actions and events into the week-end.

A great opportunity to raise the issue of military spending – asking the question, “does it make us safer”.  Help others to think about this with a stall in your town centre or church.  Highlight the opportunities that are lost when governments spend money on the military rather than on health, education, development, climate change and more…

Pax Christi is supporting this day of action by faith groups.  There will be a variety of prayers, readings, silent worship from 10.00 am until the last session, run by Pax Christi at 4.00pm.

Ash Wednesday 2018 Leaflet 

Join us for a time of prayer and symbolic action at the Ministry of Defence on Ash Wednesday 14 February 2018.  We will reflect on  our own need of repentance and conversion and call our Government to repent of its involvement in nuclear war preparations.  We will also be inspired by the encouragement of Pope Francis and other religious leaders and the success of the Nuclear Weapon Ban Treaty in 2017.

We meet at 3.00pm in Whitehall Gardens (closest to Embankment station.  Come out of station on rive-side and turn right and walk to Whitehall Gardens)
