Peace Doves at Liverpool Cathedral @ Liverpool Cathedral, St James Mt, Liverpool, Merseyside, L1 7AZ

Liverpool Cathedral are hosting an art project and large-scale installment made up of paper doves.

The paper doves have messages of peace, love and hope on them written by people from the local community, schools and visitors.

The artwork has been curated by sculptor and artist Peter Walker, with a soundtrack called ‘Ruah Qadeska’ by David Harper.

NUCLEAR WEAPONS? NO THANKS! MARKING CHRISTIAN CNDS 60TH ANNIVERSARY

On Monday 12 July Christian CND will be hosting a major Zoom meeting as part of the events to mark 60 years of our campaigning against nuclear weapons. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Methodist Central Hall, the location of the historic first meeting of the United Nations General Assembly which saw the very first resolution passed call for the elimination of nuclear weapons.

Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm at the Edith Cavell statue, in St.Martin’s Place, London WC2. It is opposite the entrance to the National Portrait Gallery, and not far from Trafalgar Square.

Peace Walk with Abingdon Peace Group

Peace Walk from Didcot to Oxford between 6th and 9th August

To physically link the events commemorating Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the area, a Peace Walk is planned from Didcot to Oxford along the Thames Path during Sunday 8th and Monday 9th August. 

Along the way we will give out leaflets and speak to people we meet. 

We will join Abingdon Peace Group’s picnic in the Abbey Meadow by the Thames on Sunday around 3.30pm or 4pm and on Monday we hope to finish by 2pm in Bonn Square, to join the Oxford event (also in the events page).

Their partners from Peace Boat will share with you live the atmosphere of Hiroshima and feeling of the Hibakusha on that very morning.

The Peace Cranes: An installation @ St Johns Church

An exhibition of 140,000 paper peace cranes made by Scottish artist Janis Hart.

Made by people from around the world, the cranes explore the threats of nuclear weapons and climate change, remembering the victims of the bombing of Hiroshima, the lives lost to the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK and species at risk of extinction.

Hiroshima Day

Pax Christi England and Wales will be outside Westminster Cathedral from 11am to 1pm for a vigil to commemorate the bombing of Hiroshima. All are welcome to join us for the vigil.

The Conwy County Peace Group are planning an anti-nuclear weapon  and peace vigil in Mostyn Street, outside  closed M&S men’s store, right of St John’s Methodist Church.
