Christian witness at Burghfield 2015

Pax Christi will be a joining with other Christian peace groups to protest against Trident and the up-grading of nuclear weapons at an all-day event at AWE Burghfield.  The month of protests organised by Trident Ploughares

If you are unable to join us you can use the Prayer Service where you are.

Pax Christi will be leading a time of prayer/readings at 1.00pm.  Everyone will meet at The Mearing gate of AWE.  This can be very easily reached by bus from Reading, see below.

11am      Quaker Meeting for Worship
12am      Lunch (bring and share)
1pm        Prayers and readings with Pax Christi

Getting to AWE Burghfield from Reading

Reading train and bus station are very close together for switching from bus to train or bus to bus. For train times & bookings see

To Burghfield by bus from Reading: From Reading Railway Station walk to Blagrave Street bus stop and catch Reading Bus 2 or 2A -Journey time around 35 minutes .

Traveline: a very useful site with printable directions, timetables and maps showing bus stops. Search under: South East including London or South West – plan a journey.

Liverpool Ash Wednesday- Public Act of Repentance @ St Lukes Church

Public act of repentance for preparations for Nuclear war (replacement of the Trident weapons system).  Gather on the steps of St Luke’s, the bombed church and then process through city centre. Setting off from St Luke’s at 1.00pm

Glasgow Ash Wednesday Witness @ South Gate, Faslane Naval Base
Mar 1 @ 2:45 pm – 3:45 pm

Join us for our annual Ash Wednesday Service of Repentance and Resistance at the home of the UK’s weapons of mass destruction.
We will start at the car park next to the South Gate where we will mark each other with ashes and then process with the cross to the South Gate accompanied by readings, prayers and hymns. All are welcome. There may be transport available from Glasgow. Please get in touch for further information:

Global Campaign on Military Spending 2017 @ National

 GDAMS card17GCOMS 2017 will run from 20 April  to 23 April – we hope this may give an opportunity to spread actions and events into the week-end.

A great opportunity to raise the issue of military spending – asking the question, “does it make us safer”.  Help others to think about this with a stall in your town centre or church.  Highlight the opportunities that are lost when governments spend money on the military rather than on health, education, development, climate change and more…

No Faith in War: day of prayer to Stop the Arms Fair @ London Excel Centre

Pax Christi is supporting this day of action by faith groups.  There will be a variety of prayers, readings, silent worship from 10.00 am until the last session, run by Pax Christi at 4.00pm.

March and rally for Palestine @ Grosvenor Square

Ash Wednesday event Liverpool @ St Luke's Church

Pax Christi  Liverpool calls for repentance for the possession of trident nuclear weapons.  “Nuclear deterrence  and the threat of mutually assured destruction cannot be the basis of a ethics of peaceful coexistence amongst peoples and nations.”     Pope Francis

Join us on  ash Wednesday to express our sorrow for the possession of Trident nuclear weapons.  Make a Banner or bring musical instrument

Process  through Liverpool City  Center pausing for prayer and reflection. Gather 12 noon at st Luke’s  bombed church and  finishing at 1pm at the Queen Elizabeth Law courts . This  witness is in solidarity with those gathering at the Ministry of Defence in Whitehall.  Make a Banner or bring musical instrument
