We are saddened to hear of the death of Fr Neles Tebay of West Papua.
Those of us who worked with him knew him as a man of great humour and warmth, who carried the burdens of a peacemaker in a light and uncomplicated way.
In forming the Papua Peace Network in 2010, and in all his peace initiatives, he showed his commitment to dialogue as a way forward for peace in Papua.
He will be greatly missed.
We join with others in Pax Christi International in offering our condolences to his family, friends and the communities within which he worked tirelessly for freedom with justice for his people.
May he rest in the peace he worked so hard to achieve.
