An online discussion from Caabu on the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh, the Al Jazeera Arabic journalist killed on 11 May 2022 whilst covering an Israeli raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank. The meeting will hear from a work colleague of 17 years Wessam Hammad as to what she was like, what she represented to the Palestinian people. We shall also have Francesca Albanese, the new UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 who will address legal issues surrounding the killing and the need for a proper independent investigation. Anna McMorrin MP will give her reflections having just returned from her first delegation to Palestine with Caabu and MAP, whilst Wessam Ahmad will give his perspective as a leading Palestinian human rights advocate.
