Please join us for this important morning conference at The Community Hall, St Anne’s Church, 55 Dean Street, London W!D 6AF on Saturday 1st November followed by a peace walk and vigils outside the French Embassy and Downing Street.

In July this year, fifteen years on from the signing of the “Lancaster House Treaties”, Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed their commitment to the joint development of the two countries’ nuclear arsenals and a vision of security based on the illusion of nuclear deterrence.

Hosted by peace organisations from France and the UK, the conference will consider alternative visions of security and the urgent need for the two countries to lead on nuclear disarmament.

Speakers: include:

  • Bishop William Kenny: Co-author of ‘Called to be Peacemakers: A Catholic approach to arms control and disarmament’.
  • Dr Joanna Frew: Outreach Coordinator, Rethinking Security
  • Msgr Bruno-Marie Duffé: Secretary Emeritus of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development
  • Etienne Godinot: Co-Founder of the Mouvement pour une Alternative Non-Violente

and we will hear supporting statements from:

  • General Bernard Norlain, President of Initiatives pour le Désarmement Nucléaire
  • Archbishop William Nolan, Archbishop of Glasgow
