Playwright and actor Michael Mears is staging a revised version of his play ‘A Priest’s Tale’ at a Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki event at Sands Films Studios on Thursday 8th August.
The play tells the story of Father Wilhelm, a German Jesuit Priest living in Hiroshima in 1945 and who survived the atomic bomb but witnessed much of the destruction, later succumbing to radiation sickness.
The play is Michael’s adaptation of one of the atomic-bomb survivors’ accounts from John Hersey’s book HIROSHIMA.
Michael will be joined by Chihiro Ono, Japanese violinist, and Antony Owen, peace poet.
You can find all the details here including the link for tickets to view the event online:
London Catholic Worker will also be hosting a performance of the play on the 11th September – see our events calendar for that day for the details.
