Although the specific contexts in the two countries are different, both have struggled to overcome violent conflict and profoundly challenging issues. Both had hoped to welcome Pope Francis this summer, but unfortunately the Holy Father has been forced to postpone his visit.
Despite the pain and difficulties in the DRC and South Sudan, faith-filled and committed women and men are working together every day to serve the people of God, to celebrate the beloved community, and to build a peaceful, nonviolent society. We will take time to learn more about them and to let them know we are praying for them.
